We specialise in utilising existing farm buildings and underutilised land to revitalise these farms and support the local economy. Early on, we realised that the land offered more than just an opportunity to revive the commercial life of the farm. It also allowed us to surpass even our ambitious low-carbon goals and do something special for our planet and future generations. This is how the Rachel’s Farm Reforestation Programme began.
Woodland planting programme objectives
Rachel’s Farm is surrounded by acres of farmland that have been underused for decades. We decided to plant new forestry to provide carbon offsetting for our activities. This initiative led us to see that we could go beyond just planting trees and hedgerows—we could reforest the land permanently and transfer its ownership to real people, ensuring that the land remains forested indefinitely. In essence, we are restoring the historic forests of the area and securing them for this purpose forever.
The Rachel’s Farm Reforestation Team will manage the land and ownership of the land will be relinquished to prohibit any future commercial value or gain. It will be legally transferred to each Stakeholder, who will directly own the Title to their Reforestation Plots.
The benefits of reforestation

Woodland carbon code
The Woodland Carbon Code in the UK, overseen by the Forestry Commission, currently does not permit individual plot certification for captured carbon. To address this, a parallel approach will be employed, following the methodology of the UK Carbon Code. An independent audit of the CO2 sequestered by the forest will be conducted five years after planting, scheduled for 2028.
This audit will measure the total carbon dioxide captured, which will then be distributed proportionally across each plot. This ensures that each plot receives independent validation of its carbon offset contributions as the forest matures.
Reforestation initiative overview
Join the reforestation initiative as a steward of native forests, safeguarded from commercial development and dedicated to benefiting both you and the environment for generations to come. Each Forest Holding, spanning 50,000 sqft, is subdivided into 100 plots of 500 sq ft each, offering:
- Contribution to planting diverse native trees and fostering woodland habitat.
- Year-round access to your forest for personal enjoyment of nature.
- A permanent plaque recognising your contribution to combating climate change.
- Approximately 900 trees per Holding, sequestering around 200 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over their lifetime (1 plot supports 9-10 trees / 2 tCO2e lifetime).
- Comprehensive management from tree planting to five-year growth included.
- Detailed plan of the new woodland area.
Plot Ownership
Upon purchase, ownership of each plot is secured by Title Deed, ensuring perpetual dedication to forestry and rewilding. All associated legal fees are covered within the plot cost, providing permanent ownership of reforested woodland.
Purchase Options
You have the flexibility to acquire or gift multiple plots, which is ideal for celebrating milestones or honouring loved ones. Businesses can also leverage plots to enhance their sustainability efforts effectively.
